DIMEACADEMICS
Academic advising and tutoring for students and student-athletes

The assist behind the diploma.

DIME Academics helps high school and post-grad students finish their diploma, plan the right courses, and reach their college goals, including athletes in every sport who need to stay eligible. Every student works with a former special education leader who plans carefully and reports every week.

Differentiated Instruction Mentoring Eligibility
The D.I.M.E. approach

A dime is the assist that sets someone else up to succeed.

That is our role in a student's education. Each part of our name is a part of the work.

Services

Everything a student needs to stay on track

We work with student-athletes in every sport, students in online and nontraditional programs, students with IEPs and 504 plans, and any student who needs a clear plan to finish strong. Families and programs can choose full academic advising or focused tutoring, in person in the Raleigh area or online anywhere.

Transcript review and course planning

We map every course and grade, identify which credits transfer, and build a course sequence that leads to a diploma on a realistic timeline.

Eligibility planning

For athletes in any sport: core-course audits, core GPA projections, and help registering with the NCAA Eligibility Center and working with it alongside your family.

One-on-one tutoring

Scheduled sessions in core subjects, planned around each student's schedule, including practice, games and travel. Students do their own work; we teach, explain and review.

Online school support

Help choosing an accredited online program with NCAA-approved courses, enrolling, and keeping a steady pace once classes begin.

Weekly progress reports

A Friday update for families and coaches with grades, course completion and next week's focus, plus a call right away if a grade slips.

IEP and 504 support

Experience reading plans, requesting accommodations from schools and online programs, and using the right supports in every session.

How it works

From transcript to diploma, step by step

  1. Consultation and transcript review

We review every transcript the student has, including earlier schools, and talk through goals.

  2. A written academic plan

Families receive a course map, an eligibility outlook and a timeline, with clear answers on what is possible.

  3. Enrollment and setup

We sign a tutoring agreement and records release, then set up school and eligibility accounts together.

  4. Weekly tutoring and Friday updates

Sessions on a set schedule, with progress reported to the family and program every week.

  5. Monthly check-ins and a mid-year review

We compare progress to the plan and adjust before small problems become big ones.

Eligibility at a glance

What the NCAA looks for

College eligibility depends on specific approved courses, the grades in them, and when they were finished. We track all three from the first meeting.

Eligibility decisions are made by the NCAA Eligibility Center, so no tutor can guarantee them. What we can promise is a clear plan, honest answers early, and steady work toward the best result available to each student.

About

A special education leader in your student's corner

Tiffany Barry founded DIME Academics to give students and student-athletes the kind of academic support she spent her career building for students who needed it most. She began in the classroom, then led special education as Director at a K-8 charter school and as Special Education Coordinator for 34 schools in one of the largest school districts in the country.

Before founding DIME Academics, she managed implementation projects in the corporate world. That experience shows up in how she works with families: a written plan, a clear timeline, and an update every week.

Every student deserves a game plan, a coach and steady feedback in the classroom.

DIME Academics is based in Raleigh, North Carolina, and works with families and programs in person and online.

Questions

Common questions from families

Who do you work with?

High school and post-grad students and their families, including athletes in every sport and the programs they play for. Students do not need to be athletes or on a college track to benefit; many simply need a plan to finish their diploma.

My child is an athlete. Can you guarantee NCAA eligibility?

No one can. The NCAA Eligibility Center makes those decisions based on each student's record. We review the record early, explain what is possible, and build the plan most likely to get there.

Do you work with students who have an IEP or 504 plan?

Yes. Special education is the foundation of our approach. We help families request accommodations and use the right supports in every session.

Do you do the student's work for them?

Never. We teach, explain and review, but every graded assignment and test is the student's own. That protects the student's learning and their eligibility.

Are sessions in person or online?

Both. Sessions are available in person in the Raleigh area and online for students anywhere, including students who travel.

What does it cost?

Rates depend on the services and number of sessions each week. Reach out for a consultation and we will recommend a plan and share pricing.
